William Hill Sportsbook Review

In 1934 William Hill founded his own company which offered a telephone and postal betting service. By 1961, the UK Government had passed laws regarding the legalization of betting shops and the already established William Hill began acquiring a number of existing business as he prepared to take the new lucrative market by storm. William Hill died in 1973 and company ownership was distributed amongst numerous holding companies. In 1997 the company was purchased by a Japanese financial holdings company called Nomura for 700 million pounds. It was in 1998 when the company launched its first website under the URL williamhill.com and proceeding this the company was sold to a private equity firm Cinven for 825 million pounds which is when William Hill was successfully launched on the London Stock Exchange. More recently the website has grown both locally and abroad as it is now fully licensed in a number of European countries, Australia, and in the US. It is without a doubt the largest UK bookmaker with over 2300 betting shops combined with the share of online betting market.

Summary

William Hill is one of the UK’s top bookmakers, and one of the world’s most foremost gaming companies. Unlike many rival industry bookmakers, WillHill has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2002 and has a total staff of more than 15,000. William Hill is an industry pioneer, offering betting odds on the likes of American Football, Australian Football, Soccer, Ice Hockey, Golf, Tennis, Props and more. William Hill users are able to enjoy live, in-play wagering, real-time sports video feeds, a live casino, poker room, even bingo. The William Hill sportsbook UI is extremely simple to navigate making the user experience very enjoyable compared to other confusing platforms. Most impressive from the user’s perspective is the way you can move from sport to sport seamlessly. Unlike some online sportsbooks, William Hill  doesn’t list its sports on the left of the main page and then bombard you with an array of sub-menus. Instead, at William Hill the set-up is such that you choose your sport at the top of the page before you’re given three additional options: Live & Upcoming, Outrights and Browse XXX. Overall, this set-up makes everything easier to find and, more importantly, speeds up the betting process. Once entering the site, in order to proceed you choose the sport of your preference by clicking the relevant link. This will switch the odds section to the relevant sport. Keeping everything confined to a single page is very much in keeping with the mobile generation (which doesn’t use multiple tabs or pages), but it also makes it easier to find what you’re looking for.
